Monthly Worship Song: He Reigns

This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: ”God’s got it!”
On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students learned that God told Moses where to go by sending clouds and fire down to show him the way.  How cool is that? God was like: Dont worry about which way to go. I got this!  This story taught us that God has the power to do whatever it takes to show us the right way!

To remember this lesson, preschoolers had a blast playing in shaving cream “clouds and both preschoolers and lower elementary kids created take-home fire and clouds crafts.

This week in upper elementary
CNX Kids learned: Knowing Jesus changes everything”
Its no mystery that our world is filled with all kinds of problems.  This week CNX Kids learned God sent Jesus to save the world and to bring us back to God. So now, we dont have to face our problems alone. Knowing Jesus changes everything.

Jesus came to bring us back to that special relationship with God. Because of Jesus, we really can be Gods kids! We dont just know about God. We can know God as our closest friend. Even though weve sometimes done bad things, even though were not perfect, God still loves us and wants to be our Dad in heaven.

God said that Jesus is His Son and that He loved Him.

When God looks at us, He says the same thing about us that He said about Jesus. (point to kids) You are my Son. You are my daughter. I love you. I am pleased with you.
But it doesnt end there. When we choose to follow Jesus, not only do we become Gods kids, but we also get to help the King bring His Kingdom to earth.

Because we are Gods kids, God gives us the power to bring some of the good stuff from heaven down to earth. That power comes through Jesus.  Our friendship with God comes through Jesus. Knowing Jesus changes everything!

Hey Parents,
Want to explore this week’s lesson with your child at home?
Here’s how!!

Preschool & Lower elementary School:
Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together
God has the power to show me the right way.
Pillars of Clouds and Fire • Exodus 13:21-22

Help your children live out this weeks Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.
“God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9, NLT

Try out the following activity:
Pour some bubble bath in the tub this week and pretend the
bubbles are big, fluffy clouds. Show your child how to separate the bubbles into individual “clouds. Count how many “clouds you have. Talk about how God used one big cloud to show Moses the right way to go. God loved Moses and He loves you too! God has the power to show us the right way to go, just like He did for Moses.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
“Dear God, You are so good to show us the right way. And Youre so powerful that You can always show us the right way. Please help us to talk to You when we need to know the right way and then help us to do what You say. We know Your way is always best. We love You, God! In Jesus name, amen.

upper elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you how they have learned ways that: Knowing Jesus changes everything

Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together:
Jesus baptism (Matthew 3:1-17)

Help your children live out this weeks Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.
This is my son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17

Try out the following activity:
With your family, play a game of 20 Questions about people you know. In each round one family member gets to choose the mystery person. Then the other family members ask yes or no questions about trying to guess who this person is before using up all 20 questions. Have a parent go last and make the last mystery person Jesus. Afterward, talk about the difference knowing Jesus has made in each of your lives.

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking.
Who are five celebrities you know from TV or the movies?
Do you really know them or just know about them? Whats the difference?
What are some things you know about Jesus?
Whats the difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Him?
Use these questions to help kids think about the difference it can make in their life to know Jesus in a personal, intimate way.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
God, thanks for sending Jesus into the world to save us. Thanks that we can be your kids just because You love us. Thanks that You give us your power to help us with our everyday problems. We love you.

Amen
