CNX Kids learned: I need Jesus!


This week, kids in preschool and lower elementary learned that everyone needs Jesus!  In fact, Jesus did something only He can do in our Bible story.  He made a deaf man’s ears hear! The man couldn’t hear anything! He couldn’t hear his friends talk or his dog bark or music play—nothing! This man knew he needed Jesus. Did Jesus have the power to help the man? He sure did! Jesus made his ears hear! It was amazing!

Preschool & Lower elementary School:

Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together

MARK 7:32-37 

Jesus heals a deaf man’s ears so he can hear. 

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

“You are everything I need.” Psalm 119:57, NIrV 

Try out the following activity:

Grab two spoons and take them to bath time. While your child is in the tub, ask him to put one of his ears under the water while you tap the spoons under the water. Ask him
to hold up his hand when he hears the tapping. You can also play a counting game where you tap the spoons one, two, three, four or five times and your child must count the taps and then hold up that number of fingers. Keep the taps to five or less. Talk about how Jesus healed 

a deaf man’s ears so he could hear. Jesus has the power to help us with anything! 

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

“Dear God, every person is special to You. You made them and love them and want them all to know that Jesus is everything they need. Help us to tell people that Jesus has the power to help them and He is everything they need. Thank You for loving us like You do, God. You are amazing! In Jesus’ name, amen.”

This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...

CNX Kids learned: I need Jesus!


On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students learned that not only does Jesus have the power to help us, but He has the power to help our friends, too! That’s awesome! The friends in our Bible story cared so much for their friend who couldn’t walk that they carried him to Jesus. They knew Jesus could help their friend and nothing was going to stop them from getting their friend to Jesus.

This week in upper elementary…

CNX Kids learned: Jesus gives us everything we need and wants us to meet the needs of others

This Sunday, Upper Elementary kids saw the disciples do three things. They saw a need, took it to Jesus, and then gave away what Jesus had given them. We can do the same thing today. When we see people in need, we can take the need to Jesus by praying about it, and then help take care of that need by giving away what Jesus has already given us.

We may not think we have much to give, but today’s story reminds us that Jesus can take a little and turn it into a lot!

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

As you drive, name things that you see along the way and decide together if it’s a need or a want. Food? Need. Sunshine? Need. Trees for oxygen? Need. Fancy car? Want. Balloon? Want. Remind your child that Jesus is all we need. He has the power to help us with anything.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

“Dear God, you are so good to us. You have given us so many special friends. Please help us to tell them about Jesus and how He has the power to help them. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

upper elementary School:

Encourage your child to explain to you how they have learned ways that: Jesus gives us everything we need and wants us to meet the needs of others

Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together:

Jesus Feeds the 5,000 (Matthew 14:13-21)

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

Then Jesus declared, ”I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” — John 6:35

Try out the following activity:

Look for a practical way that your family can meet the needs of others this week. You could clean out your closets and give gently used clothes to a clothing drive or take money and give to a special cause. You could also get a gift card or groceries and leave an anonymous gift for someone who needs it. It’s important that everyone in the family contributes or participates in some way.

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!

At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking.

• What’s one thing you’re thankful for today? 

• What are some of the ways God meets the needs of our family? 

• When is a time we were in need and God really came through? 

• Who is someone in need we can help this week? 


Use these questions to help kids think about how God meets their needs and how He can use them to meet the needs of others.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

God, thank You for always giving us what we need. Please help us to see the needs around us and give what we have to help.
