This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: God will take care of me!”
This Sunday, CNX kids had fun talking about the love that God has for each of them.  Through their reading of 1 Kings 17:1-6, kids learned how God took care of Elijah by sending Ravens with food. Even though Elijah was hiding in a far away place, God kept him safe and gave him food to eat and water to drink. God took care of Elijah and God will take care of us, too!

To remember this lesson, preschoolers and lower elementary students made bird feeders to take home with them.

This week in upper elementary
CNX Kids learned: I need to unpack what God is telling me with others.
Today in CNX Kids, Kids learned through the story of Joseph interpreting Pharaohs dream that we need other people to help us unpack what God is telling us. Then, they reviewed the circle and had the chance to discuss personal kairos with their classmates.

Its easy to forget all the things God does to take care of us. This month, use your drive time to help you and your child remember. Take a few moments to pray when you get in the car or when you arrive where you are going. Pray for and thank God for things like: safety, a car to drive, money to buy groceries, teachers that help us learn, doctors to help us feel better, libraries to check out books, money to buy clothes, etc. Before you know it, you and your child
will see God at work all around you!

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
“Dear God, we just want to say thank You for giving us what we need. Thank You for loving us and taking care of us. In Jesus name, amen.

Upper Elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you how they have learned ways that: I need to unpack what God is telling me with others.

This week sit down and work a puzzle together. Talk about how sometimes puzzles can be hard, but that if you work together with your friends or family, you can help each other put all of the pieces in place. Talk to your kids about the fact that when God speaks to us, it can be a little confusing, like a puzzle, but that God gives us friends and family to help us put all of the pieces together and figure it out. Share an example from your life about how God got your attention with a Scripture or a circumstance and how you unpacked it with another person to help you to put what God was telling you into action.

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinner time this week, ask these questions to get your family talking.
·      What was the best thing you did today?
·      What was the worst?
·      Did anything surprise you today?
·      Who earned the title “most awesome friend for you today? Why?
·      Who are the three people you trust most in the whole world?

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
God, thanks giving us friends and family to help us to follow You. Please help us to talk to others about the cool things youre saying to us this week.

Amen

CNX Kids learned:  God will take care of me!
This Sunday, CNX kids had fun talking about the love that God has for each of them.  Through their reading of Matthew 6:25-34, kids discovered that if God provides for the flowers and birds, how much more will he provide for all of us?!

This week in upper elementary
CNX Kids learned: God talks to kids every day, and I can learn to recognize His voice.
Today in CNX Kids, Kids learned that God is speaking to them every day and how to recognize His voice. To do this, they played a fun game called “Circle Quest to help them identify what it looks like to listen to God.

Take a family walk this week and listen for hidden sounds. See how many sounds you can discover that you might normally miss when youre playing, talking, or laughing. When you get home, review all of the sounds and talk about how we often dont hear them because were not paying attention. Remind kids that in the same way, we can miss hearing Gods voice if were not listening for Him.

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinner time this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking:
  1. What was your favorite part of today
  2. What was the funniest thing you saw today?
  3. What was the hardest thing that happened to you today?
  4. If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently today?
Use these questions to help kids discover how God may be trying to get their attention through the circumstances of their day. Follow up these conversations by asking kids how the events of the day made them feel and what God might want them to do about it.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
God, thanks that not only can we talk to You, but that You actually talk to us too. Thank You for inviting us to join You on Your adventure. Please help all of us learn to recognize Your voice this week and hear the cool things that You want to tell us.

Amen

CNX Kids learned: Always show love!”
This Sunday, CNX kids had fun talking about the love they have for their moms! We made special mothers day cards and a beautiful flower craft!  In our video, Crew Chief Carl explained how Moses' mom always showed love in Exodus 1:8-2:10. We can always show love to others in this same way!

This week in Elementary School
CNX Kids learned: Love Never Gives Up!”
Today in CNX Kids, kids learned that whether its hard or easy to love someone, we should never give up on them. By not giving up on others, we are loving them the way God loves us. When we remember how God showed His love to us first, that makes us want to love others in the same way!

“Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It is not rude. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other peoples wrongs. Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up. Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
