This week In Preschool & Lower
Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: God will take care of me!
This Sunday, CNX kids had fun talking about the
love that God has for each of them.
Through their reading of Matthew 6:25-34, kids discovered that if God provides for the flowers and birds, how
much more will he provide for all of us?!
This week in upper elementary…
CNX Kids learned: God talks to kids every day, and I can learn to
recognize His voice.
Today in CNX Kids, Kids learned that God is
speaking to them every day and how to recognize His voice. To do this, they
played a fun game called “Circle Quest” to help them identify
what it looks like to listen to God.
Hey Parents,
Want to explore this week’s lesson with your child at home?
Here’s how!!
Preschool:
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together
Matthew 6:25-34
Jesus reminds us that, if God feeds the birds and
dresses the flowers, He will surely take care of us!
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
“My God will meet all your needs.”
Philippians 4:19, NIrV
Try out the following activity:
Go outside with some paper and crayons. Take a walk
and look for
birds and flowers. Talk about their colors and what
they look like, and then try and draw them. Take the pictures you draw and hang
them on your refrigerator. Let them be a sweet reminder that God will take care
of you!
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
“Dear God, we just want to say thank You for giving
us what we need. Thank You for loving us and taking care of us. In Jesus’
name, amen.”
Upper Elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you
how they have learned ways that: God talks to kids every day, and I can learn
to recognize His voice.
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together:
Samuel hears God. (1 Samuel 3)
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow
me.
—
John 10:27
Try out the following activity:
Take a family walk this week and listen for hidden
sounds. See how many sounds you can discover that you might normally miss when
you’re
playing, talking, or laughing. When you get home, review all of the sounds and
talk about how we often don’t hear them because we’re
not paying attention. Remind kids that in the same way, we can miss hearing God’s
voice if we’re
not listening for Him.
Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinner time this week, ask one of these
questions to get your family talking:
- What was your favorite part of today
- What was the funniest thing you saw today?
- What was the hardest thing that happened to you today?
- If you could have a do-over, what would you do differently today?
Use these questions to help kids discover how God
may be trying to get their attention through the circumstances of their day.
Follow up these conversations by asking kids how the events of the day made
them feel and what God might want them to do about it.
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
God, thanks that not only can we talk to You, but
that You actually talk to us too. Thank You for inviting us to join You on Your
adventure. Please help all of us learn to recognize Your voice this week and
hear the cool things that You want to tell us.
Amen
