Monthly Worship Song: This is Amazing Grace
This week In Preschool & Lower
Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: ” God will take care of me!”
This Sunday, CNX kids had fun talking about the
love that God has for each of them.
Through their reading of 1 Kings 17:7-16, kids learned how God taught a widow and Elijah the importance of
taking care of one another. In this
story, God gave Elijah the woman to help him. And God gave the woman Elijah to
help her. God gives you people to help you, too! It’s one of the ways God takes care of you.
To remember this lesson,
preschoolers and lower elementary students acted out skits about helping one
another and made loaves of bread, complete with oatmeal glued to the tops of
them, to take home with them!
This week in upper elementary…
CNX Kids learned: When God speaks to me, I need to do something about
it.
Today in CNX Kids, Kids learned all about trust.
Another word for trust in the Bible is faith. Faith is being so sure we can
count on God that we’ll
do anything He tells us to do. Faith isn’t just something that
happens in our head. It’s
only real faith if we live it out in our lives in the things we do.
Esther could say she believed in God all day long,
but it wasn’t
until she risked her life with the king that we saw just how real her faith was!
Hey Parents,
Want to explore this week’s lesson with your child at home?
Here’s how!!
Preschool:
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together
1 Kings 17:7-16
God uses a poor widow to
help take care of Elijah.
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
“My God will meet all your needs.”
Philippians 4:19, NIrV
Try out the following activity:
Grab some checkers or a crayon. Talk about all the
people that help your child. See how many people he can think of and make a
mark or line up a checker each time he names someone new. When he’s
done, ask your child to count how many marks or checkers he has. Celebrate God
for giving your child so many people to
help him!
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
“Dear God, we just want to say thank You for giving
us what we need. Thank You for loving us and taking care of us. In Jesus’
name, amen.”
Upper Elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you
how they have learned ways that: When God speaks to me, I need to do something
about it.
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together:
Esther Risks Her Life (Esther 1-8)
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive
yourselves, but do what it says.
— James 1:21
Try out the following activity:
Divide your family into teams for a fun
competition. You can compete in a board game, a sport, or in some other way. If
your family has three members or less, team up together to compete against
another family. After you have fun competing, talk about how important teamwork
was during this game. Then remind your kids that teamwork is important in our
lives too. As we listen to what God is telling us and make a plan to do what he
says, we need to buddy up. It’s hard to do all this on our own, so we need to
find a teammate who can cheer us on and do what God has told us to do.
Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinner time this week, ask one of these
questions to get your family talking:
- What was your favorite part of today?
- What was the funniest thing you saw today?
- What was the hardest thing that happened to you today?
- If you could have a do-over, what would you differently today?
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
God, thanks that we can trust you. Please help us
to not just listen to you, but to have enough faith to take action. Show us
what you want us to do and give the courage to do it.
Amen
