Monthly Worship Song: You’re Worthy of My Praise

This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: ”God Helps me Do Big Things!”
On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students learned how God helped David protect his sheep from lions and bears! As you can imagine, David must have been really scared! All of us face things that scare us in our liveswith Gods help though, we can face our fears with courage.

Talking about our fears isnt an easy thing but CNX Kids did this amazingly! From talking about it in small group discussion to praying about it in our prayer journals, everyone was ready to turn their fears over to God!

To remember their lesson, many children made sheep crafts.  Some, however, spent so much time in prayer that they didnt have time to get to their craft! What an awesome day it was!!!

This week in upper elementary
CNX Kids learned: God will send me to people who are ready to hear about Jesus
When we have exciting news, we just naturally want to tell people about it! Today, kids in Upper Elementary learned that Jesus said that wherever the disciples went, they were to show Gods love to people. He told them to heal people and to tell them about Gods kingdom. Some
of those people would be what Jesus called
People of Peace.

God makes it easy to tell others about His love. In fact, He starts working on people way before we even know it, getting them ready to hear the good news that Jesus loves them and wants them be a part of His family.

Our main job is to walk through life with our eyes open and our ears listening to God as he reveals to us the People of Peace He has prepared.

Hey Parents,
Want to explore this week’s lesson with your child at home?
Here’s how!!

Preschool & Lower elementary School:
Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together
1 SAMUEL 17:34-37
God helps David protect his sheep from a lion and a bear.

Help your children live out this weeks Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.
“We have the Lord our God to help us. 2 Chronicles 32:8, NLT

Try out the following activity:
Look for big things your child can do each time you get in and out of the car. Ask him to open the car door, climb in his car seat, or even buckle his own seatbelt. Praise him for doing such big things. Ask him, “Who helps you do big things? and encourage him to say, “God helps me do big things! Continue to look for big things he can do while running errands. Help you at the grocery store, thats a big thing. Entertain a younger sibling, thats a really big thing! Or even drop the books into the return slot at the library. All of these things are just the beginning of the big things God is going to help your child do!

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
“Dear God, sometimes the things we have to do scare us. Thank You for being with us and helping us do those things. I pray we will trust You to give us the courage to do all of these things. We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen.

upper elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you how they have learned ways that: God will send me to people who are ready to hear about Jesus

Review the weekly Bible story by reading it together:
Jesus sends out the disciples (Luke 10:1-10)

Help your children live out this weeks Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.
“Come, follow, Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people. Matthew 4:19

Try out the following activity:
Make a list of all the people you run into in a given week for each family member. Circle the names of people you know who dont know Jesus. Talk about if any of them show signs of being People of Peace. Do any of them welcome you, listen to you, or help or encourage you in some way? Who likes to hang out with you? Who is drawn to you?

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking.
  • Whats the best news youve heard today? Did you tell anyone about it?
  • What s so fun about sharing good news?
  • Who is someone who has shown Gods love to you?
  • If you could tell someone only one thing about Jesus, what would it be?

Use these questions to help kids think about the simple, natural act
of sharing about Jesus with the People of Peace God brings their way. Encourage them that they dont have to tell people everything they know about Jesus at once but simply share the first thing God brings to mind when the time is right.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:
God,
Please bring someone to me today and help me say Your words to them. Amen
