Monthly Worship Song: Sing, Sing, Sing!
This week In Preschool & Lower
Elementary...
CNX Kids learned: ” The Bible is better than gold!”
On Sunday, we continued our Pirate Adventure of learning
that the Bible is better than gold.

To remember their
lesson, preschoolers and lower elementary students made paper bag churches with
a little paper doll to remind them of their special place in God’s family.
This week in upper elementary…
CNX Kids learned: God wants us to work from rest, not rest from work.

Hey Parents,
Want to explore this week’s lesson with your child at home?
Here’s how!!
Preschool + Lower Elementary:
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together
The Bible is better than gold and it teaches us
that we are a part of God’s family, the church! -
Hebrews 10:25
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
“Your teachings are worth more to me than thousands
of pieces of gold and silver.” Psalm 119:72, NCV
Try out the following activity:
Cuddle up with your child and pray. “Dear
God, thank You for
giving us family like [name close family members]
to love us. And thank You for letting us be a part of Your family, the church.
They love us too! Help us to love our family and be good to them. In Jesus
name, amen.”
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
“Dear God, thank You for giving us such a big
family at church. It’s
always a great day when we get to spend time together learning about how much
You love us. Thank you for giving us time to work and time to rest. Help us to
love one another the way You love us. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Upper Elementary School:
Encourage your child to explain to you
how they have learned ways that: God wants us to work from rest, not rest from
work.
Review the weekly Bible story by reading
it together:
Jesus invites the disciples to rest. (Mark 6:31-32)
Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and
yours.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man
remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do
nothing. —
John 15:5
Try out the following activity:
Brainstorm a list of the ways you ”rest”
as a family. These can as simple
as watching a movie together, going for a
walk, or just having some down time playing in the backyard. Make another list
of the “work”
activities that keep you busy — things like school, your job, homework, sports, or
extracurricular activities. Talk about the healthy rhythm of working from a
place of rest rather than just resting from busyness. Discuss how well you do
this as a family.
Have a Dinnertime Discussion!
At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions
to get your family talking.
- What are things that keep you busy?
- Who gets the most sleep in our family? Who sleeps the least?
- What are the fun things you do that make you feel rested?
- Which do you think our family does more, work or rest?
- How can we honor God by doing both?
Use these questions to evaluate if you need to cut
any activities as a family or maybe plan some special family time to recharge
your batteries if you’re
about to go into a season of more activity.
Set aside time throughout the week to
pray together:
God, thanks that you love us enough to want us to
rest before we work. Please help us take time to rest, relax and have fun, but
to also have fun serving and doing the good work You have for us.
Amen
