This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...

CNX Kids learned: ”God’s got it!”

On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students learned that God spoke to Moses in an AMAZING way… God was talking to Moses through the burning bush. He told Moses that he was to go to help the people who were being mistreated by the mean king. God told Moses that He would be with him and protect him.  Moses trusted God and did what God told him to do. Only God had the power to talk to Moses from the bush. God has all the power.

To remember this lesson, kids made a burning bush craft tell you all about how God had the power to speak to Moses through a burning bush. God has the power to speak to us, too! J

This week in upper elementary…

CNX Kids learned: ” Our relationship with God gives us confidence in God”

The upper elementary kids stepped into the BIG story of David and Goliath this week.  We talked about how having a relationship WITH God, and a confidence IN God can lead to powerful things.  David took his faith in God, along with his trust that God was bigger than Goliath, and saved his people with 5 small stones.  The kids were able to take home a “stone of confidence” with a word that represented their relationship with God, and a word of a time that they felt they could have relied on our BIG God a little more.  No matter how tall the giant is that we may have in front of us, our God is always bigger.

Moses and the Burning Bush • Exodus 3

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

“God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9, NLT

Try out the following activity:

We want your child to always remember that God is with him wherever he goes. Getting in the car is the perfect time to teach this truth and practice this month’s memory verse. Each time you get in the car tell your child, “We’re going to the [name of place]. God is with us at the [name of place] because ‘God is with you wherever you go.’ Joshua 1:9.” Keep doing this all month long, and before you know it, your child will truly believe that God is with

him wherever he goes!

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

“Dear God, thank You for hearing us and speaking to us, too. Thank You for being with us wherever we go.  You are so powerful and wonderful, God, and we love You! In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Encourage your child to explain to you how they have learned ways that: Our relationship with God gives us confidence in God

David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? — Psalm 118:6

Try out the following activity:

Go on a scavenger hunt in your backyard or in a nearby park looking for five smooth stones. The stones should be large enough to write on. After you find them, talk to your child about God’s character and brainstorm five things you know about God that help you have confidence in God in any situation. Use a marker or paint to write one word on each stone to remind you of God’s character. Place the five smooth stones on your dining room table this week to help you talk about God’s character each day.

Have a Dinnertime Discussion!

At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking.

• What was the smallest problem you faced today?
• What was the biggest problem you faced today?
• Which seemed bigger at the time, your gigantic problem or God?
• Which one of your five smooth stones would have been good to remember today?

Use these questions to help kids have confidence in God’s character so that they can rely on Him on protect and provide for them no matter what problems they face.

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

God, You are a big God. We know that no one and nothing is bigger than you, not even our problems. Please help us to be confident this week no matter what problems we face because we know You love us and will never leave us.. Amen

This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...

CNX Kids learned: ”God’s got it!”

On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students learned that God is with us wherever we go, and we know He has the power to answer prayer.  In our Bible story, God showed everyone that He is the only one with the power to answer prayer. Elijah prayed to the one true God and God was like, ‘Stand back. I got this!’ Fire came down and then the rain ... it was awesome! We don’t ever have to wonder if God has the power to answer our prayers because He does. He’s totally got it!

To remember their Bible story, CNX Kids created rain sticks decorated with red, orange, and yellow streamers to represent God’s fire! It was an awesome day in CNX Kids!!




This week in upper elementary…

CNX Kids learned: ”We should be as faithful to others as God is to us”

Some days it seems like life is an endless series of sticky situations. It’s hard to face the problems and challenges that don’t always have easy answers. This week CNX Kids learned about a young lady named Ruth who had to make a big choice about whether to stick with someone she loved.  Because Ruth was
as faithful to her friend as God was to her, she got to have a special place in God’s big story!

CNX Kids learned that we should be like Ruth and stick with our friends like God sticks with us. That means loving and encouraging them no matter what. It means sticking like glue!

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

Try out the following activity:

Go outside and see just how much power you and your child

have! How fast can you run? How many push-ups can you do? How high can you jump? How long can you hang from the bar on the swing set? How high can you swing? Do you have enough power to climb a tree? Whew! The options for testing your power are endless, but there is an end to your power. Not with God’s power, though! Tell your child that God’s power is bigger than anything we could ever imagine and it NEVER runs out! God’s got it!

Set aside time throughout the week to pray together:

“Dear God, You are so powerful and amazing. We know that You have the power to answer our prayers, just like You did for Elijah. Thank You for loving us and hearing us and always being with us wherever we go. We love You! In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

A friend loves at all times — Proverbs 17:17a

Try out the following activity:

Have all family members pick their favorite sticky foods. Then design a menu that features all of them in one day. As you eat these sticky meals, talk about how God wants us to stick with our family and our friends the ways He sticks to us. Talk about what it means to do this and brainstorm some ways to do this as you eat. Encourage your kids to remember to be a sticky friend every time they eat their favorite sticky foods.

• What’s the best part about being in God’s family?
• Who are some friends who have stuck to you?

This week In Preschool & Lower Elementary...

CNX Kids learned: ”God Loves Me!”

On Sunday, preschoolers and lower elementary students reviewed all that we have shared throughout the past month….We’ve learned A LOT about how much God loves us. We learned that God loves us because He made us. We learned that God loves us and has a plan for us, like He did for Abraham. We learned that God loves us and will take care of us, like the shepherd took care of his sheep. And we learned that God loves us, no matter what, just like He loved Zacchaeus.

To make this stick, CNX Kids created and acted out skits of their Bible stories.  Then, they colored and took home a book of review images and verses to share with their families!!




This week in upper elementary…

CNX Kids learned: ” God is all-powerful”

It was no fun to be Pharaoh!!  This week in upper elementary, we continued to learn about God sticking by the Israelites, even through plague after plague after plague....  No matter how strong we think we are, we can't always do things on our own.  God is always there to provide that helping hand and strength to get through difficult times!

As you worship in this way, invite your child to do the same.  Establish a physical connection by lifting him or her up or holding hands.  Share in each other’s joy as you lean into the beauty of childlike praise!

“Dear God, we have so much to be thankful for today. Thank You, thank You, thank You for loving us every day the way You do. You are amazing, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Help your children live out this week’s Bible verse by finding examples of it in their own lives and yours.

Try out the following activity:

Help your kids develop humility by challenging them to do acts of secret service this week. Look for ways your family can serve others without calling attention to yourself or getting credit for your good deeds. Afterward, debrief with your kids about the experience and talk about how much fun it is to make a big deal out of God and other people instead of yourselves.

At dinnertime this week, ask one of these questions to get your family talking.

• Who are some people we can brag on today instead of on ourselves?
• Was there any time today when you were tempted to brag on yourself?
• If we had to make a humble Hall of Fame, who would be in it? Who do we know that makes a big deal out of God and others instead of themselves?
• Why do you think God like to use humble people to do big things?

Use these questions to help kids think about what humility looks like in their everyday lives and to discover how they can make a practice of honoring God and others above themselves.

Dear God, You are the King of the universe. You are all powerful. We know You can do anything. Please use your kingdom power to help us whenever we are stuck in a sticky situation.
